Everything turns, moves, glows and flashes at Gsellmann's world machine, which parents and children in Edelsbach can admire. The colorful fascinating machine seems to live, it rings and rattles and makes families amazed.
The space-sized world machine, built by Franz Gsellmann in 23 years, consists of innumerable large and small parts and objects, which he collected in scrap heaps and shreds. He even made some of the parts according to plan, concealing the purpose of his project.
Franz Gsellmann, the builder of the world machine, was born in Kaag in the southeast of Styria in 1910. In 1958 he began building his machine, which he completed in 1981. Today Gsellmann's world machine is run by his grandson and his sister-in-law, and in guided tours they tell parents and children stories about this dream machine.
